| The Rectified Scottish Rite |
Jean-Baptiste Willermoz, who had been initiated in the French Rite in 1750, founded the RSR. It is based on four degrees, whose ritual, written in 1792, derives from Judeo-Christian culture. |
The RSR has largely retained the structure and spirit of the 18th century. |
• |
It includes four degrees corresponding to the four cardinal virtues of Justice, Temperance, Prudence and Force, in ascending hierarchic order. |
• |
The opening ritual as well as the closing one is an invocation of the GAOTU. |
• |
The Bible is opened at the first page of the Gospel according to John. |
The patent of the first three degrees of the RSR was officially granted to the GLFF by the GODF in 1975, and that of the fourth degree on September 2, 2000 by the Directoire et Grand Collège des Loges Ecossaises Autonomes des Gaules, by courtesy of the Loge Nationale Française. |
